About
I'm Temís, a Harlem-born New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent. I founded Volver Workshop in 2020 in Brooklyn after 3 years of living in Spain.
In 2017, I was working a full-time corporate fashion job in Barcelona when a random chat with a local shopkeeper sparked an interest in traditional shoemaking. Shortly after, I met a Catalan master shoemaker by the name of Carlos Piñol Palacios and trained with him to learn the essentials of pattern-making, lasting and fit.
When I moved back to Brooklyn at the end of 2020, I left my corporate career, rented a studio space and started building my own designs. I called the project Volver Workshop. Volver means "to return" in Spanish, and making shoes by hand is my way of returning to that passion I once felt for creating and wearing beautiful and unique objects.
I owe my beginnings in shoemaking to my teacher Carlos, mentors Catu & Ignacio of @aldanondoyfdez and to the wonderful and creative community in and around Barcelona for all their guidance and support.
